Leah Sanginiti (she/her) is an international performer and director of theatre for young audiences whose work has reached over one million children across the globe. Her recent projects include an original musical produced at the Gateway Theatre in Singapore, an artist residency at the world-renowned Papermoon Puppet Theatre, and a partnership with Berkeley Repertory Theatre to design innovative arts education programming. She is a member of Alternative Theater Ensemble and facilitates theatre workshops for all ages throughout the Bay Area that empower communities with frameworks for consent, self-advocacy, and art as resistance.

When she isn't making theatre, you can find Leah singing with her friends, backpacking through countries on the Reconsider Travel list, writing nonfiction, and cuddling with small animals. Her travel blog Adventure Confessions has helped readers from all over the U.S. realize their dreams of travel through affordable, sustainable, socially-conscious practices.

  • Winter 2025 - I’m honored to announce that Book of Questions has been awarded funding for a Bay Area premiere. Thank you to the Kenneth Rainin Foundation, Alternative Theater Ensemble and the Lishan community of Taiwan for your support in bringing this project to new audiences!

  • Fall 2024 - Call for collaborators! I’m working with Bri Reads and several Bay Area-based theatres and communities around the world to bring Book of Questions to the Western Hemisphere. Contact me below if you’re interested in learning more.

  • Winter-Summer 2024 - Excited to announce that I’m partnering with Alter Theater, Go Girls!, and Berkeley Rep to expand youth arts programming in Alameda County.

  • Asia Tour 2023 - Check out my recent work in Indonesia and Singapore! I’m currently teaching theatre and performing in Japan and will return to the Bay Area in January 2024.

  • Fall 2023 - I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve secured a residency at Papermoon Puppet Theatre in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, and will spend November producing a new piece in partnership with Bri Reads promoting literacy and creative expression for youth.

  • Summer 2023 - Bay Area Children’s Theatre’s closure has left an undeniable hole in the Bay Area arts community, but I am so grateful to all of the incredible artists and visionaries who have aligned with BACT’s spirit of collaboration and innovation in its wake. I look forward to sharing more details soon! In the meantime, you can catch me doing what I love: backpacking around the world, researching multicultural theatre traditions, and making friends in faraway places.
